1. First Meeting of the Couple
It was back in 2003 that the couple connected during the Grammy Awards ceremony. They clicked many pictures together and perhaps it was this time that the chemistry built up between the couple and both of them came closer.
2. Attending Birthday Parties Together
It was not until 2005 that rumours of their dating became public. It was during this year that both of them began attending each other’s birthday party. They also went out a few time on date but did not confirm anything officially. However, this was the beginning of their dating and Ashanti and Nelly relationship became stronger.
3. Attended John Tucker Must Die Premier
Their closeness grew to the extent that both of them began attending movie premiers together. It was in July 2006 that both of them were spotted attending premier of the movie “John Tucker Must Die”.
4. Shot Music Videos Together
Their collaboration grew over time. However, in June 2007, the duo was part of the song “Switch”. This song was otherwise to be part of the studio album of Ashanti “The Declaration”. However, it was clubbed to be a promotional song, both featured in it.
5. Opened About Their Relationship
Ashanti and Nelly relationship got its real worth when Ashanti opened up about the relationship. Though the duo did not confirm their future plans. In June 2008 they did admit that both of them could get married someday soon which was an indication that something was cooking up between them.
6. Breakup for First Time
It is not as if everything was going well between the couple. It was reported in 2009 that Ashanti was ready to settle down with Nelly. However, Nelly was not on the same page and differences grew among them.
7. Seen Together Again
However, they could not remain away from each other for long, and in August 2010 they were seen holding hands at T.I. and Tiny’s wedding in August 2010. They said that while they are not in a relation, however, both of them are good friends.
8. Break Up in 2013
Ashanti and Nelly relationship came to question in 2013 when the couple reportedly broke up in 2013. None of them commented on the issue.
9. Confirmation of the Breakup
Ashanti confirmed in March 2015 that both of them had infact split. This was due to a lack of trust in their relationship. It was indeed a sad day for their supporters, however, this was the truth and everyone had to believe it.

10. Back on Track
There was finally some good news in September 2023 when Nelly confirmed while attending “Boss Moves with Rasheeda” that both of them were finally together. This was a good end to Ashanti and Nelly relationship woes and the couple has been together ever since.
