Have you ever seen that two people in a relationship at times bring out the worst out of each other? This happens because they are in a codependent relationship. Confused on what I am saying through this example.
Healing begins with Awareness, Understanding and Action
Codependent Relationship
In simple words, a codependent relationship is one in which one person or both the partners are going through poor mental experience. They are facing this problem due to issues like immaturity or under achievement.
Such a situation brings them to a point at which they often enter into a codependent relationship. They find solace in the feeling that they have someone in life behind whom they can hide their fears and weakness.
Impact of Codependent Relationship
One might think that being in a codependent relationship will bring them some good in the long run. However, this is not true by any account. While the person who is codependent would find that they are able to hide their fears and weakness, this could infact create problems for them in the long run. The person would lose all his or her abilities and would become redundant with time. This can have a negative effect on their personal and professional life.

Moreover, the person on which they are depending would also use them to their advantage. In a relation too if you are dependent on someone, the other person will act and behave in sync with their personal upbringing and needs of the time. In no way would they act as per your wishes and intentions.
So this brings us to the vital question of; is being in a codependent relationship good for anyone in the long run. The answer is obviously a big no. So, what should be our plan of action.
How to deal with Codependent Relationship
For dealing with a codependent relationship and bringing out the best out of yourself, you should ponder upon the following:
1. Work on Your Weaknesses
It would be worthy to note that you will have to work on your weakness to get over this habit of co-dependency. At times, we depend on others just to hide our fears. When you try to work on your weakness in the long run, you will gain confidence that you can infact handle situations and conflicts by yourself.
2. Try to Handle Situations
You will have to learn to handle situations by yourself. The fears that you have imbibed in yourself will vanish in no time once you handle tough and conflicting situations by yourself. You should try to do things by yourself and not depend on others for handling matters that can be done by yourself. Once you develop this tendency of doing things by yourself, you will see that you will gain confidence and become a better person with time.
Being in a codependent relationship is not good and you should take steps to overcome this challenge in your life. This will eventually make you a confident and better person!
